PS : I'm new there, if there is a section where I should introduce myself, please let me know.Okay so I am having a bit of a problem with draftsight and I am getting nowhere with the draftsight "professionals". I have researched and researched over and over. Let me provide the original issue before I tell you the troubleshooting steps I have already taken. User reported that everytime draftsight is opened it will ask him for activation. Upon further review he was correct and I have activated many draftsight's seeing as we have over users.

I have never seen this before, simular but not this. Basically, it will ask for activation then I will enter in the information required. Once this has been done, Draftsight is supposed to give you a message saying an email has been sent to finish activation. This message will never appear nor will I ever get the Email. This was about a month ago, so after troubleshooting and no resolution I gave the User the free 30 day trial period for Professional to buy myself some more research time.

The time on the professional is up, and Draftsight has reverted to the original issue of not activating the free version. Neither of which worked. Also while searching I should mention, that alot of people had issues with it being a problem with the proxy server on the network or through the ISP, this can't possibly be the issue for me.

As i do these installations daily and have over users and no one has had this issue before, Nor have I seen it. The above steps usually always fix the issue for me. But just for kicks, I used a wifi dongle and connected to my T-mobile data and tried the process that way as well, still no luck, same issue. If anyone has any knowledge of this, or had a simular issue with this please let me know.

And If you think I am missing a step or something to resolve this I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you very much. DraftSight is not for some mysterious reasons reading Internet connection informations. Flash Player update suffers from this sometimes. I would certainly uninstall the KB It took 2 attempts of verifiying through email possibly impatience but it worked the 2nd attempt of trying.

Our IT department became super frustrated with this issue and just repaced his machine, and cleaned wiped the PC. This is no longer an issue. This has been resolved. Thank you for your help.If you can establish a technical drawing process that you perform frequently — you can automate it with AutoCAD.

One of the easiest ways to automate a process within AutoCAD is to write a script. In this example we will write a script that will automate a typical plot routine.

Running Scripts

In computer programming terms, a script is a programme that will run with no interaction from the user. Before we can automate a process, first we have to define it. In this example we will write a script file that will create an A1 PDF plot of a drawing. We will work through the instructions that we would usually need to give AutoCAD to make a plot, and make a note of them so that we can write it up into a script.

AutoCAD script files cannot interact with dialogue boxes, so we need to work out what we would type at the command line to produce our plot. Copy these options out into a text file for later reference. You may have to step through the routine a few times to get all the answers you need.

When we have produced a plot manually, we can open up the text window hit F2 on your keyboard to review the steps. Copy the commands from the AutoCAD text window, and paste them into your notepad file. You do need your replies. In the image below I have highlighted what can be stripped out.

Watch out for character wrapping inherited from the AutoCAD text window. Make sure all the text for each step is on the same line. The next step is to test the script. It may take you a couple of goes to get your script to run. Use the text window to see how far your script ran before it stalled. Make the corrections in the. Now you have a running script file it is a good idea to add a few comments to remind you what you did.

You never know, it might be you who has to re-write the script in six months time…. AutoCAD will ignore any line in your script file that is preceded by a semi-colon. My version of the script ended up looking like this:. AutoCAD scripts can be used to automate many tasks. You could use a script to add your corporate standard layers or styles to a drawing. You could write a script to update your title block.

Next time we will look at the differences between scripts and Macros.
